The uplifting mix is a force for good in your life and in the world that can nourish hope and integrity in people everywhere.
Intercultural E-Mail Classroom Connections (IECC) (http://www.iecc.org) is a free service linking over 8400 teachers in more than 80 countries for educationally-focused Internet-based partnerships. With two colleagues, Dr. Bruce Roberts and Dr. Howard Thorsheim, I created IECC in 1992; since then, IECC has helped make over 35,000 classroom connections. This service has been incorporated in Teaching.com.
American Friends of the Asian Rural Institute (AFARI) (http://www.friends-ari.org) is a US-based non-profit group supporting the Asian Rural Institute (ARI) in Japan's Tochigi Prefecture. ARI is an international training institute for grassroots rural leaders from developing countries, mostly in Asia and Africa. Each year ARI invites 25 to 30 rural leaders of all ages, both men and women, for a nine-month training program to study sustainable food production in organic agriculture, the skills of leadership and community organization.
The WWW Hmong Homepage (http://www.hmongnet.org), created in March, 1994, brings together a collection the Internet-based resources related to Hmong news and current-events, issues, history, publications, and culture.
Hmong Textile Arts at Harding High School (http://www.hmongnet.org/class/harding99) is one sample of the cooperative projects with the Hmong community.
ASIANetwork Web Site (http://www.asianetwork.org) is a consortium of liberal arts colleges with Asian Studies programs. I serve as the Webmaster and Academic Technologist for the ASIANetwork.
